Tasmanian Madeline Huett was a contestant on Reality TV’s Australia’s Next Top Model Cycle 7, and in this exclusive interview she shares her fashion tips!

What is your shopping mantra?
Always try things on! I used to be the queen of not trying clothes on but I got so sick of getting home and things looking shit, so now I always always always do a quick try on!

Describe your style!
It’s very eclectic, it totally depends on how I’m feeling. Sometimes I love mini skirts with a cute little tee, some days I love black super skinny jeans and my favourite band t shirt. Sometimes it’s very rock & roll, sometimes it’s cute, sometimes it’s sexy.. I love mixing new & old, I have a lot of vintage, a lot of fur coats. I will always love 70′s boho inspired clothes too.

Who is your style icon?
Kate Moss, she’s so effortlessly cool and manages to make jeans and a tee look like a fucking masterpiece. Nicole Richie, the whole 70′s boho thing is unreal on her. And Chloe Sevigny – I love that chick! Three very different style icons but I love ‘em all equally.

What are your favourite brands?
I love Alice McCall at the moment, some very cute dresses. And some rad knits for winter. I love love loooove Chanel for bags and accessories. Nicholas, Ellery, Wrangler for jeans.. There’s so many!

What are your favourite wardrobe pieces?
My Mink Pink black fur, it’s gonna be my winter staple this year I can tell. I would wear it everywhere every single day if I could. Black skinny Wranglers, my vintage Armani sunglasses, my Mötley Crüe t shirt.

If you were to give your fellow shoppingbirds any advice when it comes to fashion, what would it be?
I’d just say always be yourself, don’t dress for anyone but yourself! Take inspiration from people whose style you look up to but always have a little bit of you in there. Always be comfortable, not literally because some clothes & shoes are fucked, but don’t wear something you don’t feel comfortable being seen in.
